You’re looking for the right way but I’ve been looking for the “right of way”, maybe we can work something out. So You’ve been pretty focused on getting things right and doing the right thing. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just that I’m actually more interested in having the right of way with you than just having you do things the right way because you can be doing everything perfectly right and be completely unavailable to me. But when you truly give me the right of way in your life then I can do whatever I have in mind to do for you and with you and around you and through you. It will almost always be different than you expected. It may be uncomfortable and disruptive or inconvenient or awkward or messy or sometimes flat-out painful, but It will also be beautiful and unforgettable and glorious and on occasion completely outrageous. But actually doing it means being willing to sacrifice your plans and your ego and your opinion and your agenda and even your “right” to be right. In the end, giving me the right of way will lead you to do things my way, which coincidentally is always the right way. Then we’ll both accomplish what we originally had in mind.
